Resources for Youth
Children and young people are a major part of the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children. The following resources are provided especially to help youth and children plan and organize World Day events. Join the global movement for children with your friends!
What is the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC)?
The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC) is an international treaty that recognizes the human rights of children. In this treaty, children are defined as persons up to 18 years of age. It establishes in international law that States Parties must ensure that all children—without discrimination in any form—benefit from special protection measures and assistance; have access to services such as education and health care; can develop their personalities, abilities and talents to the fullest potential; grow up in an environment of happiness, love and understanding; and are informed about and participate in achieving their rights in an accessible and active manner. What is the World Day of Prayer and Action for Children?
The Prayer and Actionfor Children is a movement of people all over the world who pray and take action for the well-being of children on Universal Children’s Day (20 November) every year. The World Day Secretariat in New York City connects the participants and assist with planning. All events are planned by local leaders, and are inspired by the United Nations Convention on the Rights with the aim to “Stop Violence Against Children.”
Strategy on Child/ Youth Participation
We firmly believe that we need to work with children and young people through inclusive ways. Prayer and Action for Children hopes to empower children and young people in areas of learning about human rights and effort to ending violence.
